Big Thank You to Breffni!

Last week we completed the 5 week CoderDojo pilot program in Breffni Resource Center. During this time, the kids involved learned to make few games using scratch.

From CarrickDojo, we want to say a BIG THANK YOU to all ninjas and parents involved in the Pilot during the last 5 weeks. The pilot was Sponsored by the Breffni Resource Center who has been a fantastic help in supporting us with the venue and the Garda vetting process for our mentors.

We want to send a special thank you to Hayley and her team for all their help with the start-up of CoderDojo in  Carrick on Shannon. We wouldn’t be  here today without their support.

The pilot went very good and kids  enjoyed learning to make games and animations using Scratch. During these pilot, we have also worked with  Autistic Services Ireland and a group of teenagers from this association have also been learning the programming skills.  It has been a great experience for everyone.

Here are some of their testimonials:

“I came here to learn basics because I didn’t know anything about scratch. I love the moving backgrounds and the way you can change the scenes. I definitely will be back in January.”

– Rebecca Murphy from Mohill.

“I have really enjoyed the pilot. I have learned lots and enjoyed every day. I would really recommend it to other boys to come back in January to CoderDojo.”

– Liam Kears from Knockvicar, Boyle.

Lastly, we want to mention all the mentors that have participated on the Pilot and all the new mentors in the team,  It’s been great to see so many people involved in teaching this fantastic skill to our children.
